Pilot Program for Product Marking Launched in the Central African Republic
Mandatory Marking to Begin in January 2026
Led by President Touadéra and initiated under his leadership, the Government of the Central African Republic has officially launched the pilot program for product marking — the Digital Track and Trace system.
The program covers five key product categories:
- Tobacco products, heated tobacco sticks, and nicotine-containing liquids
- Alcoholic beverages
- Bottled water and non-alcoholic beverages
- Medicines and medical equipment
- Veterinary drugs
This important initiative is designed to ensure product traceability, enhance consumer safety, and increase market transparency. Beginning January 2026, product labeling will become mandatory for all items within these categories.
Participation in the Pilot Program
The government invites all importers and manufacturers to actively participate in the pilot program. Participation will allow stakeholders to:
- Become familiar with the product marking process
- Test the system and required equipment
- Prepare for smooth compliance before mandatory implementation
