The government of CAR is starting its digital transformation journey, and pilot projects are set to launch later this year

In order to ensure the success of the Central African Republic in the evolving digital landscape, the country’s government and a local company DigitalGate, SARL recently signed an agreement on the implementation of a number of digital transformation products.

Led by President Touadéra and acting on his initiative, the government of the Central African Republic is starting the country’s digital transformation journey that will affect various sectors, strengthen security, and create clear and convenient digital taxation tools, which will help protect the rights, lives, and health of citizens.   Digital transformation will also lead to the increase of government revenues, which will then be allocated to improving the quality of life for citizens, developing the economy and infrastructure, and supporting healthcare and education programs.

The implementation will start with such in-demand solutions, as Digital Track and Trace and Electronic Visa (E-Visa) Solution, the adoption of which will greatly benefit the CAR’s economy.

  • Electronic Visa (E-Visa) Solution is a service that allows foreigners to submit documents and apply for a visa to the CAR online. The solution will help ensure security for the citizens of the Central African Republic and convenience for foreign businessmen and investors who participate in the development of the country.
  • Digital Track and Trace is a system for tracking the movement of products along the supply chain — from the manufacturer to the end consumer — and verifying their authenticity using digital codes. With a dedicated mobile app, any consumer can check the product they are purchasing, while the government gains complete information about the production and movement of marked goods.

The solution will improve safeguarding the lives and health of citizens, while protecting consumer rights, combating the shadow economy, protecting honest manufacturers, facilitating fair trade practices, and increasing tax collection.
